What Causes White Patches On The Gums?

Hi.
I have bruises on my front two teeth gums and milky white patches seem to have formed on my gums on top as well. My gums burn and hurt. My gums bleed as well. I also have sores. This pain and bruising on my gums showed up when I switched brushes. Is it related to that? Or could it be the beginning of an oral disease? Please help.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain white patches over the gums along with bleeding and burning of gums after changing toothbrush can be at times due to using a very hard toothbrush that can cause continuous trauma to the gums with hard toothbrush that can injure the gums and cause inflammation, pain, bleeding and discomfort..

Another cause can be gum infection or Gingivitis that can cause similar symptoms..

You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be done..
In case if it is due to only trauma to the gums then changing to a soft toothbrush and brushing gently can help in resolution..
Along with it apply Lidocaine gel over the gums to reduce burning and pain and do cool compresses..

In case if it is due to Gingivitis then scaling followed by a short course of antibiotics like Metronidazole and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and gum paint massage can help..

Hope your query is resolved..

Regards.
