What Causes White Patches In The Mouth?

I have been having white patches, (which don t scrape off my mouth, I already I tried--carefully) breathing has been difficult, as if I am choking or my throat suddenly tightens up at times, red spots on the roof of my mouth, appear, and most recently, pain in the back of my neck, but no fever. Voice has been going on n off with hoarseness, feeling sleepy on n off, and appetite is low, burning sensation at times as if I swallowed a butane lighter or more. I saw the ER Dr here, and she has never seen anything like this. what do u think?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms can be due to Oral Lichen planus..
It is an inflammatory disease that can cause lacy white patches..
White patches can also be due to fungal Infection..
Consult an Oral Pathologist and get evaluated and a biopsy or microscopy of scrapings from the white patches can help in confirmation..
In case of oral lichen planus oral steroids and gargles with mouthwash containing numbing agent like Lignocaine can help..
Avoid spicy and irritant foods..
Do cool water rinse to reduce inflammation ..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
