What Causes Wheezing Noise When Breathing?

hi, I have a question regarding the "noises" I make when I breathe. I have never had this problem until just this year. Last February/March I had a terrible cold where I couldn't breathe. Ever since then I make "noises" when I breathe. I have been told it is wheezing. It is really irritating to me. I also have had coughing attacks where there is a thick, rubbery mucus that comes up. The color is white to very light yellow. I feel that my lungs are clear and the blockage is in my brochial area of my chest. What could this be?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are mostly having post infectious bronchitis. It is common after viral upper respiratory tract infection (cold). Your symptoms like wheezing, cough with expectoration, coughing attacks etc are suggestive of bronchitis more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Oral anti inflammatory drugs are also indicated.
So first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
