What Causes Wheezing And Recurring Cold In A Toddler?
My son is almost 3 yrs old. He is having this weezing problem from last one year. He develops cold very frequently which often leads to respiratory problems like weezing sound and shortness of breathe. Doctor has told that it will remain so till 5-6 years of age and then will gradually go. I want to ask whether to give budesonide or levolin to him as previous doctor was giving levolin which was stopped by the current one and was replaced by budesonide. Also how to prevent it to happen again and again. Do and should I need to get an allergy teSt done for him? Please suggest.
The budesonide is a preventer, it would reduce the chance of an asthma attack occurring. It is not useful when an asthma attack is occurring.
The levolin is a reliever, it would help at the time of an asthma attack but would not stop them from occurring.
Since he has frequent asthma attack , he should use the budesonide regularly to reduce the frequency as prescribed by his doctor and use the levolin if an asthma attack occurs.
I hope this helps
