What Causes Weight Loss After A Knee Replacement Surgery?
My 78 yr old mother had a total knee replacement 2 weeks ago and Since the surgery her poop has been black, she feels great but is losing weight also, her plalets were down prior to surgery and the surgeon was worried but we had her cleared through a blood doctor and cardiologist. I am calling her doctor tomorrow but Is there a possibility of a bleed somewhere, the knee looks great. She is on blood thinners and a anti inflammatory too which I know is a blood thinner too. I’m worried but it’s too late to call doctor today. Just looking for any answers
As your mother is taking blood thinners medicine and NSAID too, passing black stool called malena, indicates that she is suffering from upper GI bleeding. you should consult with the treating doctor for further management.
