What Causes Weakness And Vomiting

Hi Doctor, My mom is not well for quite some time. She is not able to eat, if she takes any solid food she would immediately vomit, because of which she has lost wiat and became very weak. We have tried consulting many doctors, they could not find the reason behind it. Finally they advised us to consult a gastroentriologist. you please let me know why this problem is occuring and what test would the gastroentriologist recommend.

A gastroenterologist is a doctor that specializes in disease of the gastrointestinal tract.

This means that they would assess persons with any symptoms related to the gastrointestinal tract ,this includes loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.

They may consider both blood tests and imaging to take a look at the stomach.

Imaging may include endoscopy. In this procedure a scope with a small camera is used to look at the esophagus and stomach.

Based on results and the diagnosis, appropriate treatment can be started.
