What Causes Watery Diarrhea After Taking Laxative?

I took a laxative about 5 hours ago and now I have watery diarrhea. I only took one of the pink dulcolax for women and this is the first time taking a laxative in a while, about a week and a half. Is havinf watery stool a serious side effect? There is some stomach cramping but it doesn t keep me curled up in one place. What should I do? My doctor s office is not open at the moment and I do not want to sit in the Emergency Room all night if it isn t life threatening, but I do plan to see my doctor tomorrow.

Hi.

Do nothing, you are losing a lot of fluids so the best thing is to stay hydrated and also initiate an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to help gain all the lost electrolytes.
