What Causes Water Blisters Behind The Knees?

my mom has some blood clots in her left leg and is swollen. A CVT was inserted to catch the clots but now her leg is still swollen and I have noticed little water blisters that have popped and continue to leak behind her knee. I am having to change the dressing once an hour. What could be causing the water blisters?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I have studied your case and i think that it is an emergency. She might be having compartment syndrome . in this condition there is increase pressure in the leg due to muscle swelling. It can decrease blood supply and can cause blister. I would recommend you to meet a doctor and show your mom to her. It might need a surgery to take care of removal of pressure on the leg.I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other follow up questions.
thanks.
