Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I've been taking lymecycline for acne for the last month and started vomiting yesterday. Are the two likely to be connected given that there was such a long delay in suffering from vomiting symptoms? I have not suffered any other symptoms while being on this.

Lymecycline can cause reflux esophagitis, which means juices from the stomach regurgitating up into the esophagus (food pipe) and causing inflammation there. This can make you nauseated and cause vomiting. If your vomiting is severe it may be prudent to talk to your doctor about stopping the medication. There are over the counter medications that can be used to reflux. You can take a proton pump inhibitor like omeprazole, or an H2 blocker like ranitidine. Do not take antacids (like TUMS or calcium carbonate) because these can interfere with the absorption of the lymecycline. I hope your troubling side effects resolve.
