What Causes Vomiting, Loose Stools And Low Appetite After Taking Polio Drops?

Hi, We had given polio drops for my 3 year old daughter on Sunday, 17th Jan 2016. After this she is vomiting once in a day or two. Her stools are very lose. Sleep time has increased a lot and we see her face is swollen at times. My daughter s food intake has come down drastically. We heard rumors that the polio drops given were expired and several kids in that area are affected. Can you please suggest if there is something serious to worry about?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You can speak to the nurse or doctor involved with the vaccine but it is not likely since the manufacturing code and expiration date normally have to be documented.

It is possible that she has a viral or bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestines). This would also affect other children in the neighborhood.
Treatment involves: (1) making sure she uses enough fluids
(2)hold off solid food till the diarrhea stops for at least 4 hours
()probiotics would also help

I hope this helps
