What Causes Vomiting In A 5 Year Old?

Hi, My daughter is five years old and lately has been complaining about throwing up in her mouth. She does not complain about a stomach ache and there does not seem to be a common thing that she eats before the incident. However, I do think she has a drink almost every time before the throwing up . She is very active and keeps doing whatever it is she s doing when it happens. Should I be concerned?

Hi.... by what you quote I feel that your kid might be having a mild GERD or gastro-oesophageal Reflux disease. This happens when the stomach is full with lot of liquid as you have observed. If the kid is active otherwise has appropriate weight gain and normal in development and other activities you need not worry about this occasional vomiting, as this is not disturbing her daily activities. But if there is any blood streak in the vomiting or if she develops recurrent diarrhoea then this requires further evaluation.
