What Causes Voice Hoarseness And Headache After Choking Feel In Throat While Eating?

I choked for about half a minute this morning on a ball of rice. Since then, my voice has been hoarse and I ve been coughing up grains of rice and have a headache on the right side that pulses when I touch my scalp above my right ear. I m 24 years old, 65 kg, 163 cm. Is this something for which I should go to the emergency room, or can it wait a few days?

Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.
I read your query carefully.
Its nothing to worry about.
Hoarseness of voice and coughing is due to choking.
And headache is due to constant coughing.
I would advise you:-
>- Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
>-Take Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan for cough.
>-Take lozenges for throat irritation and hoarseness of voice.
