What Causes Vaginal Spotting While On Birth Control Pills?
I had my second child via c-section on June 3, 2016. She was breast fed as well as bottle fed but I only produced breast milk for the first two months. Well I started my birth control (the pill) I believe on August 13, 2016. Well September 1st and 2nd I spotted and then on the 3rd I started my period and it lasted till the 8th and then I spotted on the 9th and 10th and then nothing. Well again on the 27th of September I started spotting for two days and the 29th I got my period. I stopped bleeding on the 5th and I have been spotting since the 6th. Is this normal? Or is something wrong with me?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Following delivery of the child, while you are breast feeding, amenorrhea persists for quite some time and it is called 'lactation amenorrhea'. During this period, when you start on birth control pills, you could experience occasional spotting and it can be considered as normal. Such episode could continue for first 3 to 6 months. Gradually, as you start getting periods regularly, you will not experience such symptoms. In case such problems persist and becomes bothersome, you may seek medical attention promptly. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
