What Causes Vaginal Spotting While On IUD Paragard?

I am 20 years old and on the IUD Paragard. This month I ve had light bleeding that goes on for a day then stops the next day and it came back today. My periods come every 2 weeks. I m just wondering if this is normal because i usually do spot before my period, but this time it keeps coming and stopping.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. When the IUD is inserted, initially, during the first couple of months, it is common to observe irregular spotting and abnormal menstrual pattern. However, if this persistent, or if other symptoms like heavy bleeding/pain/infection develop, a proper clinical evaluation should be done and if necessary, the IUD is removed. So, if you have had the IUD in for sometime and if this is a recent development, please contact your health care provider for further help. Wish you good health.
