What Causes Vaginal Spotting During Early Pregnancy?

I am 4 weeks pregnant. The day after I had it confirmed by the doctor I started spotting. I called to ask because it is my first pregnancy. They told me that it was normal and I shouldn t stress as long as I didn t have extreme cramps or stomach aches I shouldn t worry. The day after it seemed to be going away until the afternoon where it became more of a light period. I do not have any kind of pain at all I feel fine. They do not want to give me an ultrasound because I m only 4 weeks. People keep telling me it s normal and some have even said that it could be my prenatal vitamins since it happened after i started taking them. Could it be that I am having a miscarriage and not know? Or is it signs of a miscarriage some time in the future?

Thanks for your query. I understand your concern.
Bleeding after 4 weeks of last menstruation ( approximately the expected date of menses ) .. can be implantation bleeding... This is when the pregnancy is about 2 weeks. This type of bleeding is normal.& usually is scanty ,lasting for 1-3 days.
But bleeding at 4 weeks of pregnancy ( about 6 weeks from last menses ) is to be taken care of. Such bleeding indicates deficiency of hormone progesterone.. ( which is essential for maintanance of pregnancy ) & this has to be replaced by medication.
You should take bed rest, consult a gynecologist for medicinal advise. Usually Tab. Duphaston 10 mg twice a day, is prescribed in patients like you for 10 days.& A usg at 5 weeks pregnancy confirms rhe pregnancy status as well as further medication.
