What Causes Vaginal Pain After The Intercourse?

Hello, I'm a 20 year old woman who has been sexually active for a couple years now. I've been on birth control for 4 years. Yesterday, I had intercourse with my boyfriend. As he is rather large, I am afraid that he might have hit something inside of me. I have had pains this evening, and it has been radiating across my ribs. It is a very nauseating pain and the only thing that seems to help is a heating pad. Do you think I could have internal bruising?

Hi,
In the current scenario, the possibilities are a ruptured ovarian cyst, when you can feel the radiating pain as far as the ribs as the peritoneum is irritated with the leaked fluid, and very severe pain; another possibility is trauma to the soft parts with radiating pain, sometimes the ovaries which are prolapsed into the Pouch of Douglas as in the case of a retroverted uterus, may get traumatized and pain may ensue. You definitely need a clinical consultation and a sonogram to properly manage the situation. Take care.
