I take Seasonique. My period started 7 days ago; they last 3 days at the longest. Seven days agon I had intercourse with my boyfriend and the tampon was still inside. It was painful and I wasn't able to retrieve for 10 hours when I returned to my home. I have pain in the vaginal area and the bleeding continues. Do you have any idea what this could be? Would you suggest I wait to get into my gynecologist Monday or go to Urgent Care today. Thank you. Diane
Your symptoms are no doubt due to the intercourse with tampon in the vagina. During intercourse, it has got pushed up still higher making you difficult to remove it manually yourself.
Now it seems, the tampon has set up infection in your vagina causing such a pain. You should not ignore and delay the matter. Report to Gynaecologist or ER ASAP to get this 'foreign body' removed. You may need a course of antibiotics if the infection is noted. Moreover, you had intercourse while menstrual bleeding. So the chances of infection are doubled.
May be you can get the tampon removed with some family assistance also; however, still report to a Gynaecologist to look for any evidence of infection.
I hope this helps you.
