What Causes Vaginal Bleeding In An Elderly Person With Lichen Sclerosus?

I am 80 years. I found blob of blood in my panties after Thanksigiving evening. What does this mwan? What could cause it? No pain. Next day only a tan spot in panties,. Day after no blood. I have lichen sclerosis of the vulva. Didn't feel anything just saw the blood 1 day? Thanks, Doctor.

It is possible that the blood is related to lichen sclerosis but other causes would need to be ruled out even if you stop seeing it completely.

Normally when post menopausal bleeding occurs (bleeding after a women has gone through menopause), the doctor has to assess the uterus looking for any changes in the endometrium (the inner lining).

This is done by ultrasound to take a look at the thickness and also possibly by biopsy.
