Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. This is a bit embarrassing but i m female and I masturbated and I hurt myself real bad. My vagina bled for 5 minutes and now when i press on it, there s still bright red blood coming on my fingers. Do i need stitches? I don t want to go to a hospital, will this heal on its own?
I can understand your concern. Pelvic area has very rich blood supply so even a minor injury can bleed a lot. You can compress a sterile cotton pad or gauze pad over the area for longer time and do not try to touch the area to check bleeding as it may displace the clot and start bleeding again. The bleeding should stop.
After the bleeding stops, do ice compression to prevent swelling. Keep the area sterile till the wound heals by normal hygiene measures. No scented soaps or perfumes, though. You can take a painkiller like Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg to find relief in pain.
However, if bleeding does not stop, the area swells a lot, pain increases immensely or you find foul smell from the area, you should visit a gynecologist to attend the injury.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM for your concern. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
