I understand it must be worrisome for you but glad that you reached out.

Well, the bleeding, 4 weeks after an abortion may be the normal period because we usually expect the normal period about 4-8 weeks after the abortion. Is the pain like normal period cramps?

Pain or cramps after an abortion can be worrisome, if they are severe or persistent and are not getting better with over the counter painkiller like Ibuprofen or if there is a fever above 100.4F (which may indicate some infection) or a foul smelling discharge.

In my clinical practice, I usually recommend my clients to try a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel for pain relief along with something over the counter for pain for taking the edge off the pain.
Again, in case of presence of any of the signs mentioned above (persistent pain, fever, foul smelling discharge), a visit to the concerned doctor or gynecologist may be needed.

Hope you feel better soon and please don't hesitate to get back to us anytime. I will be more than happy to answer your questions.
