Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Pain in my upper abdomen between my rib cage maybe. Pressure along with it and makes me feel like I need to throw up. Happened to me last week and then again yesterday. Also have acid reflex which I take prilosec daily for the past 4 years+ Just wondering what this could be.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Since you are taking Prilosec for such a long time say 4 years for acid reflux, you need to take a review of the situation by a Gastroenterologist by clinical evaluation and upper GI Endoscopy. Now the pain in the upper abdomen between rib cage and need to throw up looks to be due to GERD that is gastroesophageal reflux disease. I would advise the same thing as mentioned above and also ask for additional medications such as Antacid every three hourly and Domperidone. Soft bland diet and small frequent meals help. Avoidance and/or management of stress and/or anxiety helps the most in controlling such problems.
