Hello and welcome to HCM,
A hard unmovable lump on the sternum appears to be a bony growth or lump arising from bone.
The first line investigations is a X-ray.
Thus, consult an orthopedician for a chest X-ray.
The lump can be a bony growth- non-neoplastic or neoplastic- benign or malignant.
The nature of the growth can be determined by biopsy and histopathological examination.
In the lesion is non-neoplastic or benign tumor, simple excision will suffice.
In case the lump is malignant, excision with local clearance will be required.

Thanks and take care
