I have been struggling with my blood pressure lately.I am just shy of 60 yr old female, previous history of arterial bypass(subclavian).I take 200mg of metropol daily and by pressure continues to read 188/55 or 182/62.should I be worried about the hugh span in the readings?
You must get evaluated. Your blood pressure is definitely on the higher side. Are you taking any other medications apart from Metoprolol? Another thing I want to suggest you get your renal arterial doppler done? As you have a history of atherosclerosis, then there is a high chance that your other blood vessels also being atherosclerosis. If there is atherosclerosis in renal arteries, it can also result in uncontrolled hypertension.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Puneet Mahajan
