What Causes Twitching In The Left Eye?

My 11 yr old daughter is experiencing uncontrollably left eye only excessive blinking disorder. It happens periodiaclly , last the longest a minute. Has happened when she is extremely tired or in the sun. It occered today when she was barrel racing her horse. She was headed into the sun but again it lasted a min or slightly more. It happened again when she going to bed, she was extremely, ready to fall down sleepy. Is this just a twitch or does it need further looking into. she does NOT complain of headache or show any other motor deficiencies.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear
I evaluated your query in depth .
* Medically this condition is known as Myokymia .
* These involuntary contractions can be triggered by
- allergies - stress , tiredness - excess strain as computer work, precise
jobs needing focusing of eyes constantly - dryness of eyes - caffeine
- certain nutritional imbalances - others .
* In your Angel I recommend strongly to do following for getting better
- deep breathing exercises , YOGA for 30 minutes daily without failure
- regular sound sleep of 7-8 hours
- get her vision checked by ophthalmologist
- prevent her from excess straining at computer / mobile / ipad for hours
- rinse eye regularly at 3-4 hours with cold water
- use sunglasses in extreme heat
- cut down consumption of intake of chocolate, soft drinks , tea , coffee
( for caffeine intake reduction )
- check her diet regimen contains enough amounts of minerals with
adequate magnesium
- keep check on allergy part as after exposure to some dusty environment
Hope this will help you definitely .
