Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Every now and again , I have 1 or two little bumps that show up on my bottom lip. They do not hurt at all , just curious as to what they could be. I do smoke and I've burnt my bottom lip before in the same spot and I've gotten a bump. But I have stopped smoking since and sometimes they come back. Any idea what they could be??
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that recurring tiny bumps on lower lips can be from viral infection caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1 causing cold sores..
I would suggest you to consult an Infectious Medicine Specialist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take a long term course of anti-viral medicines like Acyclovir and also apply a topical application of anti viral ointments like Valacyclovir [Valtrex].. Avoid intimate contact with other individuals as it is a communicable infection and spread through close contact with infected individuals..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
