What Causes Tinnitus In The Left Ear?

I am hearing the sound of what sounds like my heart beat rhythm in my left ear when I layed down to go to sleep this evening. I have not heard this before. Is this a normal occurrence or is this a reason for concern? I a 70 years old, female, no known health issues. Your input would be much appreciated.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tinnitus in ears which isn't a condition itself but it's a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss.

It could be due to excessive wax accumulation, ear injury and circulatory system disorder.

You should avoid touching or pricking ear. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to find out exact cause. Doctor may order certain tests like audiometry and high and low pitched intensity tests and can start treatment accordingly. Maintain complete hygiene. Put antiinflammatory ear drops.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
