What Causes Tingling Sensation On The Face And Temple?

My son (15) is having tingling on the side of his face--temple area--or about 3 days. His eye doesn t twithc, but he said it feels like something is crawling under his skin. A few other symptoms, like headache, and some period shivering, like he all of a sudden got a chill (this maybe happens once every other day). I ve been calling neurologists, but wonder how much I should be worried? Anything besides super scary things that would cause this symptom?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query tingling sensation on the face and temple is because of facial nerve inflammation or impingement. The symptoms can also occur due to reasons like side effects of medicine , allergic reaction or bruxism. Facial nerve supplies to area around neck, jaw, cheek and head. I would suggest you to visit oral surgeon once and get it examined. Go for mouth stretching exercises. Try to whistle and blow out and blow in. Take for muscle relaxants to lower down facial swelling and weakness. Your symptoms will resolve its own. If it is really painful then you to go for steroidal injection in trigeminal ganglion from where this nerve arises.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
