What Causes Tingling Sensation In The Hands And Fingers?

Ok so idk how to really explain these symptoms I m feeling, but I ll do my best. So off and on between long periods of time, I ll get these weird sensations throughout my body, light tingly sensations that move around from my hands and fingers, to my feet and toes, to my face, arms and legs, now these tingly sensations are not constant, they come and go, also I feel like my brain can t shut down and makes it hard to fall asleep, also and this is the weirdest sensation, but if hold my hands together, just simply place my hand on my arm or leg, or I rub my arm, my face, my chest or any where on my body it seems to feel like my hands not there like my brain isn t registering that s what I m doing, and yes I do feel the touch as in if I was to poke that area, and i also start having anxiety.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Abnormal sensations are commonly due to neuropathy which is abnormal function of the nerves.

It can be temporary or permanent and there are different possible causes such as : (1) low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
(2)diabetes
(3)thyroid disease
(4)side effect of medication
(5)liver or kidney disease
(6)ms or stroke
(7)infection such as shingles
(8)abnormal levels of vitamin b6
(9)trauma to the nerves
(10)

To find the cause, you would need to be assessed by your doctor. This would include physical examination and blood tests (diabetes screen, thyroid screen, liver and kidney function tests, vitamin levels.

Imaging may be needed as well.

I hope this helps
