What Causes Tingling Sensation In Legs With Severe Pain?

I suffer from tingling/numbness in my upper right leg. Lately the symptoms have worsened so that now my leg often feels like it is on fire - it gets extremely painful. The odd thing is that the skin is never warm at all when this happens - it usually feels cool to my touch while at the same time I often cannot feel my hand touching my leg while concomitantly my leg feels like it is on fire. WHAT IS THIS???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This is likely peripheral neuropathy. This refers to abnormal structure or function of the nerves.

It can be associated with a number of different sensations including burning, numbness, sharp pains, sticking, tingling etc

There are different possible causes such as: diabetes, trauma, vitamin deficiency, exposure to toxins, liver or kidney disease, thyroid disease

It would be best to visit your doctor to determine the cause for you and to initiate treatment.

I hope this helps
