What Causes Tickling Cough And Chest Tightness After Smoking Weed?

I used to smoke weed with tobacco but since cutting out the tobacco I have developed a tickling cough, chest tightness (sometimes slight ache) and occasionally produce black/brown spots in my phlegm. I have begun to exercise daily and have a fairly healthy diet but am still concerned.

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Any form of smoking (weed, nicotine or weed+nicotine) damage lung and cause chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD can cause chronic cough with phlegm.

Weed smoking can precipitate panic attacks anxiety symptoms which can last for several months. Anxiety can cause restlessness, choking feeling in respiration and chest tightness due to muscle spasm.

For treatment you need to quit weed first. If symptoms are severe and prolong you can meet psychiatrist and pulmonologist. He/she will also help you in deaddiction from weed and COPD management.

Wishing her good health and all the best.
