What Causes Throbbing Pain In Head While Coughing And Bending?

My head hurts and throbs on the left side when I cough or bend over. It has gone on for a few weeks now, but I just started to develop a cold with mucus in my lungs, although the throbbing head when coughing thing has gone on before the cold started. How can I stop the pain? Coughing is really painfil that I feel like I need to put pressure on my temple just to get through it. What's also strange in that I don't feel it in the morning whern I wake up, but a the day goes on, the pain gets worse. Any suggestions?

I am a 41-year-old female, 128 pounds, no previous health problems.

A cough causes a sudden intense sharp pain, often in the top or back of the head, but any part of the head can be affected. It is important to make sure that pain is directly caused by coughing (there needs to be no pain before the cough, and pain is only induced by the action of coughing).Just like other exercise induced headaches, there is a 10-20% chance that there is a structural problem in the head causing this headache. Benign Cough Headache does not have cause identified on investigations. You need to take anticough syrup, analgesic like naproxen. Please visit a family physician to rule out any structural problem in head.
