What Causes Throat Pain?

Hello, my name is Destanie, and this past weekend I went to Hawaiian Falls with a friend!! I went down a slide that was fast and scary and I screamed! At that moment I was chewing gum, and the gum ended up going down my windpipe.. I felt fine, but all of a suddent I feel this strange pain on the side of my neck near the front on my right side, it s painful to swallow but only on one side, and I kind of hold my tongue different inside of my mouth because of that pain... is it possible that the gum may have damaged something as it went down? Or could something be developing there? I m not sure if I should seek medical help or what, but all I know is it hurts and it s extremely uncomfortable! Please help!!

General Surgeon 's  Response
HI.
Due to screaming you might have hurt the muscles or tendons with the cartilages and might have developed hematoma. You should consult an ENT Surgeon to have examination, Endoscopy and MRI of the area. IF the hematoma is more you need aspiration. Take only liquids orally, do not speak, have voice rest till you see a Doctor.
