Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
The thickened and inflamed esophagus needs to be biopsied to examine the esophagus microscopically.
Biopsy and microscopic examination is necessary to look for evidence of infection, dysplasia or neoplasm.
Thickening of esophagus raised the possibility of dysplastic or malignant change and this change has to be ruled out.
Thus, consult your gastroenterologist for biopsy and thus further management if required.

Thanks and take care
