What Causes The Red Rash In The Arm Pits And The Groin?

My husband has a red rash in his armpits and also in the groin area. He is a diabetic. Is there anything he can do himself to clear this rash? Could it be a yeast infection? If so, what should he do? He is using baby powder to keep it dry and also aveeno lotion to stop it from itching, but it doesn t seem to be improving any. He takes Metformin and also some meds for his heart and Zocor.
