What Causes The Nose To Be Blocked When Sitting Or Lying Down?
My nose seems to close up and I have to breathe thru my mouth whenever I am sitting or lying down. It opens up when I am active. This has been the case for a few weeks. I did use nose spray too much, but I have stopped that a week ago. I am still using a saline spray
Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of blockage in the nose when sitting or lying down which could be due to allergic rhinitis, nasal polyp and which can be caused by bacterial or viral infection. Need not to worry. You should avoid touching or picking nose with any sharp object. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order nasal swab test and blood tests to get complete examination done. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial ( amoxicillin) or anti viral ( acyclovir ) depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants. For now continue doing gargles and drink one spoon of honey mix with glass of lukewarm water. You should take nasal saline rinses on daily basis.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
