Hi I am 32, 6 ft, 90 kilo's. I have suffered from outbreaks of herpes for the last seven years. It manifests itself as a cold sore like blister appearing on either the left or right side of my forehead but never both. With this I also get a swelling and a discomfort on the same side of my face where the blister is around the glands at the ear. This time however I have these symtoms and a swelling from my left ear running up my left temple and the left hand side of my forehead is also swollen. The blister is at the top towards my hairline and is about the size of my thumb print and is scabbed over. I have been taking acciclovir tablets for three days now and the swelling has not reduced. Should I be concerned that this has developed into something more serious? I have been reading about different types that attack the brain or the eyes and am quite worried about this.
