What Causes Testicular Pain And Hardening Of The Epididymis?
Hi!i've got two questions. It feels like epididimis on right side is larger and harder, noticed that couple years ago, but didn't really pay attention about it till now. I can feel the one on the other side as well, but it is smaller and harder to find. The other thing that happened to me today when I got home, I noticed a little bit of pain in my right testicle and something that feels like soft tissue above it. What do you think the problem is?
Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history. Epididymitis is usually a chronic disease and very difficult to treat. This is confirmed by a clinical examination preferably by an Urologist and ultrasonography and other relevant tests like blood/ urine and X-ray chest. Since your problems is there for couple of years with minimal of pain one probably diagnosis of tuberculosis must be kept in mind. If there is suspicion about TB - Quantiferon Gold test can be done.
IF a course of 3 weeks of an antibiotic does not help, and if you have completed the family ( kids and all) , it may be advisable to get the epididymis excised for two reasons. 1> your get rid of the disease and 2> you get the histopathological diagnosis- makes you tension-free
