What Causes Swollen Tongue And Tiny Bumps On Gums?

Female, Age 26, healthy otherwise, started having tongue pain d/t what seem like abrasions on my gums. These 'abrasions' have since spread throughout my mouth to under my tongue and I woke up this am with a mildly swollen tongue and what feels like many tiny bumps on my upper gums. NKDA. I took Claritin and it seems to have helped but they are still there and semi-painful. Any Ideas?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain swollen tongue along with small blisters in mouth can be due to Apthous Stomatitis causing apthous ulcers and can be caused due to a number of reasons like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, allergic reaction, physical trauma, side effect of medicines, stress, acid reflux etc..
It can also be due to Herpes virus infection causing cold sores.
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be diagnostic..
In case of apthous stomatits taking multivitamin tablets, gargle with a numbing mouthwash, doing warm saline gargles and avoiding spicy foods can relieve..
In case of viral infection antiviral medications that is oral and topical antivirals like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir can relieve..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
