What Causes Swollen Ribs And Abdominal Pain After A Fall?

My son fell at the play ground at school. He was winded & when first happen he was in pain. He fell on his back or side ( his not sure) When we got home I gave him some pain medicine. He ate super then after a few hours I was putting him to bed & noticed his belly just below his rib looks swallon. So I felt around his abdomen & it was pain full. He is in bed asleep now. Is it just brusing or should I be more worried and take him to the hospital

Hi there.

It could be ribs fracture. Apply cold packs to the region. Aaos lying on that side. Take him to see his Doctor as the ribs and underlying organs need to be assessed for injuries.
