What Causes Swollen Lymph Nodes And Tonsils?

Hi there, my girlfriend is having problems with her throat. It's difficult to explain but she has a pea sized lump on the outside of her throat. Her lymphnodes are fairly swollen at the base of her jaw (And getting worse daily) I looked in her mouth with a flashlight and it looks like her tonsils are also swollen. She's also been thristier and lethargic. She's 28 years old, eats healthily and exercises daily. Any information would be helpful. Thank you

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain swollen tonsils as well as swelling of lymph nodes under the jaw can be due to a number of reasons like Throat infection caused by bacteria or virus, post nasal drip, sinusitis, acid reflux etc..
The most common cause seems to be infection..
I would suggest that she should take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or levofloxacin, take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations..
Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water..
Maintain a good oral hygiene..
In case of no improvement consult an ENT expert and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
