What Causes Swollen Lymph Node On The Right Side Of Neck?

Hi, I am 24, and a month ago I found a swollen lymph node on the right side of my neck, under my ear. It is still there and since I found it, it has remained hard, painless, and it has actually gotten slightly larger. I have no tonsils, and I have not had any sore throat, ear ache, etc. The only thing I can think of is that my wisdom teeth have been coming in, however they are also 100% painless. At times I feel dizzy upon standing, and lately I have been sleeping in until noon and still want to take a nap before dinner time. I went to the Dr. and had blood work, I have an appointment in a few days but it has been over 2 weeks since my first appointment and I am going crazy over here thinking about it non stop. I m young, I m a smart person, and I just want to know realistically, what are the chances that this lymph node is indicating cancer?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that swollen lymph node under the ear that has progressively increased in size seems to be due to Lymphadenopathy that is commonly due to Chronic Infections..
But at times it can be due to tumor of the lymph nodes known as Lymphoma but as it is just one month immediately thinking of cancer is not appropriate..
I would suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like ultrasound and FNAC can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
For infection related swelling you can be advised antibiotics..
In case of lymphoma chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be advised..
As of now do alternate warm and cool compresses over the lymph nodes..
