What Causes Swollen Lips After Taking Benadryl?

Yes. I have been having the hives and been taking OTC generic Benadryl. This morning my left upper lip and face were slightly swollen. I took two pills and the swelling seemed to be going down. Before went out to eat I took another pill, 4 1/2 hours after the first. While at dinner my upper lip started swelling in the middle. Any idea of what's going on?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per you query it seems that swelling of the lip and cheek seems to be due to allergic reaction leading to Allergic Angioedema..
It can be due to any food or medication..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like RAST test, Patch test, Food Challenge test etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or Allegra..
Do cool compresses..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
