What Causes Swollen Hard Lump On The Thigh?
my son got bitten on his thigh yesterday in jacksonville fl. at the zoo and now its swollen and hard in that area. i m thinking that it may have been some type of spider and he said that he had on jeans but he dont remember anything biting him ,he noticed it a few hours later.

As per your query you have swollen hard lump on the thigh after bitten by something . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like haematoma , lipoma , fibroma , cellulitis and abscess , But in your case it seems to me that the lump is due to insect or spider bite as you also mention in query . Sometimes after bite the wound get infected and get filled with pus and swelling occur , allergic reaction due to bite can also be one of the causes . I would suggest you to clean the lump with soap and normal water , apply warm compresses and take bendryl twice a day . If it doesn't get better in a day then consult dermatologist for proper examination to prevent condition like septicemia . Doctor may check the consistency . Doctor may drain the lump , prescribe antibiotics , anti allergic and anti inflammatory .
