What Causes Swollen Elbow?

Left elbow suddenly swollen, very red, warm to the touch. Size of a golf ball. Did not bang or otherwise injure myself so this puzzles me. I iced it. too 3 advil. Area of redness this morning is size of an orange. Sensitive to touch. Not as swollen. Still warm to touch.

I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely a gout attack.You should get a serum uric acid level which is usually elevated in such case.An orthopedic consultation is well appreciated.If gout i treat with colchicine in acute stage,indomethacin or ibuprofen also given and when it normalize allopurinol therapy will be started.You should also restrict meat fish and dairy products in such case and increase intake of plain water.Hope this may help you.
