What Causes Swelling Where The Right And Left Clavicle Meet?

My mom is in her early forties and just started having trouble swallowing yesterday. I looked at her neck and it is swollen in the center of her chest where her right and left clavicle meet and create an indent. Her indent is completely swollen and it looks like she has a golf ball inside of it.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
The site you have mentioned is known as supra sternal notch.
And Fullness (swelling) in that area is caused by
1. Enlarged lymphnode
2. Thyroid diseases
3. Tracheal and esophageal diseases.
So better to consult doctor and get done
1. Clinical examination of that swelling.
2. Ultrasound examination of neck and thyroid.
3. Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) for confirmation.
So better to first diagnose her and then start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
