What Causes Swelling On The Penis Post Application Of Fucidin?

hello, I used fucidin on my penis to treat ingrown hair. At first I thought it was acne and I squeezed it but it kept getting inflammation. I applied fucidin for the first time last night, when I woke up I saw that my penis is swollen except its head. Should I be worried or just observe it and continue the treatment with fucidin? In my opinion, it is swollen because I squeezed it, what do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The swelling is likely linked to the trauma from squeezing it though the infection that is present is also likely playing a role as well. Even if there is no pain, the use of anti inflammatory pain killers would help with this swelling that is Naproxen, Cataflam or ibuprofen.

A warm compress can also be applied to the area at least 2 to 3 times daily. This can be done for 15 to 20 minutes. The warm compress would also help the discharge to come out of the lesion. The area can be cleaned twice daily with a mild antiseptic and the antibiotic cream can continue to be applied.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
