General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pain and swelling you describe may be caused by ankle osteoarthritis, arthritis, and soft tissue infection.

I will advise you to see the doctor for examination as only a keen medical examination may help to identify the exact cause. In the meantime, a pain or anti-inflammatory drug like Tylenol may help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
