What Causes Swelling On Lips?

What would cause both lips swell ( like 3 - 4 times there normal size) split and ooze .... are extremely red and in the beginning were very itchy and burning as well ... Have a drs appointment tomorrow but that's the earliest they could get me in....

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling of lips along with splitting, redness, itching and burning seems to be most probably due to allergic reaction to some unknown allergen..
Few common causes of allergic reaction can be allergic reaction to any food or medicine, lip cosmetics and other things like poison ivy, leather, latex etc..
Consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and allergic testing like Prick test, Patch test, RAST test, food challenge test can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You can be advised Oral and injectable antihistamines or anti allergics like Benadryl or Allegra, Steroids..
An Immunotherapy can also be instilled that will reduce severity and duration of the reaction..
As of now take anti Allergics like Fexofenadine (Allegra), do cool compresses on lips and take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
