What Causes Swelling In The Toe?

Hi, I am 65 years old and woke up this morning with my big toe swollen and in pain. I have taken some ibuprofen and soaked in a foot massager. I am due for my annual exam on thursday 6/1/17. What other home remidies can be done or what do you suggest. Thanks Raymond

Hello
Went through your post you had sudden onset pain and swelling of great toe joint.
This is a typical presentation of gouty arthritis, I would suggest you go for a serum uric acid level, KFT and have your BP checked, you can take indomethacin 50 mg three times a day or prednisolone 30mg once a day for five days
Consult a physician who will explain you proper management of this condition.
Regards
