What Causes Swelling In The Throat With White Pustules On The Tonsils?

I'm 19, I weigh 289, female, 5'4".

I had a sore throat a week ago, it lasted two days, no swelling or anything but my throat was continuously dry and sore. A few days later it was gone and I was fine.

I just had a major move it's a three hour difference from where I was living before. Weatherford to Azle Texas. I have allergies, for which I take Zyrtec and I also take Mucinex, on really hot days I use my Albuterol Sulfate Inhaler.

For the last four days my throat has been swollen, with small white pustules on the surface of my tonsils which currently almost touch my uvula. The pustules are soft, I discovered this by popping one, it was a white, pus-like fluid and the empty pustule spot bled after it was burst. Now, despite the swelling, it doesn't actually hurt, so I'm guessing not strep? I had strep three months ago. There's a big difference between this and that, such as no pain or tenderness, or cough.

Also, I'm not tired, achy or feverish, so I don't think it would be Mono either, or tonsilitus, so I'm not sure what I've got. Any Ideas Doc?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Follicular Tonsillitis leading to white spots/patches over your tongue and it is commonly due to bacterial infection..
I would suggest you to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, do warm saline gargles and steam inhalation..
Use a humidifier in your room as it will help in breathing moist air and prevent throat dryness..
You can also suck throat lozenges..
Sip on warm water..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..

In case of no improvement in a week consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
